China Mold Technology Exhibition Opens in Shanghai: Industry Insights

On the morning of June 4, the 24th China International Mold Technology and Equipment Exhibition (DMC2025) opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

This exhibition focuses on the two major sectors of "mold manufacturing and precision equipment", with an exhibition area of ​​70,000 square meters. More than 100 manufacturing single champions, national, provincial, and municipal specialized small and medium-sized enterprises, and specialized "little giants" enterprises brought core technologies, innovative products, and application solutions to the exhibition, and more than 30 provincial and municipal mold associations participated in the exhibition. This exhibition is hosted by the China Mold Industry Association and the Shanghai International Trade Promotion Committee, and hosted by Shanghai International Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd. and the China Mold Industry Association.

According to statistics from the organizer, the output value of Chinese molds will reach 363.3 billion yuan in 2024, supporting the forming and manufacturing of 36 trillion yuan of products in China; the total export value of Chinese molds will exceed 8.7 billion US dollars, an increase of more than 4.8%, and the fundamentals of its share in the international market will be stable; the total import value of molds will be 1 billion US dollars, a slight decrease year-on-year, indicating that China's mold self-sufficiency capacity has been further enhanced.

This mold exhibition can also be called the "arena" of the equipment industry, and world-renowned equipment brands have appeared one after another.

For example, Makino brought its latest vertical machining center V300, equipped with a new SGI.6 servo control system and a specially designed lead screw transmission device, which effectively solves the processing quadrant problem of traditional equipment; Beijing Jingdiao displayed the JDGR400T automation unit, which consists of the country's first manufacturing maturity level 8 certified equipment JDGR400T and a set of JDFMS150S automatic feeding system, which can complete automatic loading and unloading, and ultimately realize the full process automation of workpiece loading, processing, and unloading; Yamazaki Mazak's VARIAXIS i-600 NEO vertical five-axis machining center uses the world's leading new generation CNC system SMOOTH Ai, which can use A1 and digital twin technology to shorten the processing cycle and improve the finishing surface. The tiny line segment processing capability is 1.3 times that of the previous generation of products; Chengdu Pushi Auto Mould brought a car seat back panel using long fiber sheet + short fiber injection molding, which can achieve a 25% weight reduction. The (automobile) left and right front and rear door outer panels it exhibited are currently the only "one mold four pieces" process solution in China, which has increased material utilization by 71.3%, reduced the number of mold sets, saved press resources, and reduced unit costs.

"Since entering China in 1998 and setting up its China headquarters in Shanghai, through long-term investment, Mazak China has built two factories (Yinchuan and Dalian), three technical centers (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian), and four technical service centers (Beijing, Chongqing, Suzhou, and Hangzhou)." Mo Yue, director of the Engineering and Technology Department of Yamazaki Mazak China Co., Ltd., said in an interview with The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) that China is the only single market in the world where Yamazaki Mazak has two factories. Both factories have completed the third phase of investment and expansion. The Yinchuan factory has expanded from the initial 100 to 200 people to more than 800 people, and the Liaoning factory has expanded from 8 parts in the early stage of the factory's establishment in 2013 to 56 parts in 2025, which fully demonstrates Yamazaki Mazak's confidence in investing in China and trust in the vitality of the Chinese economy.

Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade said that the exhibition industry, as a "resource hub" of the global economy, provides specific support for driving domestic and foreign market cycles by virtue of its trade attributes of connecting supply and demand and aggregating industrial elements. This year's DMC2025 will be held in conjunction with five exhibitions, including the "2025 Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Technology, Products and Achievements Expo", "The 24th Shanghai International Lubricants and Application Technology Exhibition", "2025 Shanghai International Heat Treatment Equipment and Technology Exhibition" and "The 17th Shanghai International Chemical Equipment Expo", connecting the upstream and downstream industrial chains to form an industrial ecosystem of about 200,000 square meters, providing companies with a "one-stop" industrial chain extension solution, so that every exhibition will become the starting point for connecting global business opportunities.
